What Is Spark?
Spark Hackathon x Case Competition is a 24-hour innovation challenge where students come together to design, prototype, and pitch creative solutions to a real-world problem. By combining the hands-on building of a hackathon with the strategic thinking of a case competition, Spark pushes participants to go beyond coding and think deeply about why their solutions matter.
At Spark, teams of up to 4 are challenged with a real-life case, centred on social good, an issue that impacts communities locally or globally.
Spark is designed for everyone: developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and anyone excited to solve meaningful problems. It's a space where students work collaboratively, learn new skills, and innovate for causes that drive positive change.
Want to Sponsor?
Our sponsors make it possible for us to give our prospective developers, designers, and builders the opportunity to build for social good. Hackers make meaningful connections with our sponsors beyond just the hackathon weekend. Stay tuned as we confirm more sponsors for Spark!

FAQ
A hackathon is a fast-paced event where people come together to build creative projects usually over 12–36 hours. Participants form teams, brainstorm ideas, and develop solutions using coding, design, and problem-solving. It's a space to learn new skills, meet others in tech, and turn an idea into something real in a short amount of time.
A case competition is an event where teams analyze a real-world business problem and present their solution to judges. Participants research, strategize, and build a clear, persuasive pitch all within a set time limit.
Participants will analyze a real-world problem through a case, just like in a case competition, then build their proposed solution as they would in a hackathon, and finally pitch their product to a panel of judges.
Spark is completely free! All we ask is that you come ready to build :)
You can come solo or with a team. If you already have a team of 3-4 people, you can register with them! If you don't have a team there will be time before hacking to form teams or we can match you up with one before the event.
Unfortunately at this time we will not be able to offer travel reimbursements.
